Everton are due to complete the £4 million signing of Phil Jagielka from Sheffield United today after the Blades lost their appeal against relegation.
The England B international has agreed personal terms with the Blues and was due at Goodison today to undergo a medical.
But the club envisage no problems in that department as Jagielka played every minute of every Sheffield United game last season.
And the best news for Everton is that Jagielka made it clear that his former club, he was on the books at Everton as a youngster, was his only choice should he leave Sheffield United.
ALthough Moyes has moved as quickly as possible to land the player, he'll still probably come in for stick from some quarters for shelling out on another, Phil Neville-like, utility player.
But, the simple fact is that Jagielka is a quality player and his versatility will be an asset to the squad, as Neville's was last season.
And he's probably a better 'keeper than Richard Wright too!
It's thought that Everton's attention will now turn to Jason Koumas who is said to commanding a fee of about £5 million from West Brom.
Why we didn't just sign him for half the price from Tranmere a few years back is anyone's guess!
