The England under-21 right back has decided to take his chances at White Hart Lane instead of Goodison Park.
Quite why he's decided on a move to Spurs, or whether Sheffield United have insisted he move to Spurs given their increased offer for both him and Kyle Walker, is unclear.
Tottenham are said to be prepared to loan Walker back to Sheffield United this season so it's clearly a case of them just throwing their financial muscle around.
And this pissing contest that passes for the Premier League is, quite frankly, already getting a bit boring.
This may sound like sour grapes - in part it is - but taking Walker and offering £8 million for the two players was clearly a cynical move by them to secure the services of Naughton.
And this comes less than 12 months after Tottenham bought another right back, Alan Hutton for £8 million.
They also spunked £6 million on Pascal Chimbonda and have Verdan Corluka in their ranks so it's anyones guess how they're all going to fit into old spam faces plans!
This comes as a big blow to the Blues who were confident of making the promising youngster their first significant summer signing.
Next up, Man City buy the entire Everton squad and loan them all back to us with the exception of Joleon Lescott!
