That's if today's Indepenent is to be believed...and why shouldn't it be?
The story is that Liege have already rebuked a £9 million pound offer for the Belgian midfielder but Everton are ready to...you guessed it...'test their resolve' with a £13 million bid.
The midfield playmaker has indicated that he's ready to leave the crack Belgian outfit but this opens a whole new can of worms.
Are these European sides from Belgium, Poland and the like really 'crack' sides anymore?
They always used to be, in fact, any team you drew in Europe who you'd barely heard of were a 'crack European side'...we even had our fears of the 'crackness' of UC Dublin back in 1984.
And the cord wearing, pot smoking students did prove to be a tricky draw as we just scraped through with a 1-0 win over the two legs!
Anyway, you all know your history....
Steven Defour, he's the one who was mustard against us and the shite and the one we hoped we were getting when we signed Fellaini, the way Real Madrid hoped they were getting Carsley when they signed Gravesen, and it will be something of a coup if we do sign him.
Meanwhile, Moutinho's agent wonders if his phone is ever going to ring again....
And, while I'm at it, it's all stream of conciousness this, do you reckon Real Madrid view Gravesen in the same the way we look at the signing of Claus Thomsen?
Does anybody care? Though not!
So that's the Belgian out of the way, the American is old news, even for Everton-mad, which leaves us with the German kid.
After SV Hamburg remained resolute that they would hang on to Shkrodran Mustafi, it appears that the lure of the Premier League proved too much for the young German.
After agreeing to the move, in principal, back in May, the formalities have now been done and Mustafi is now an Everton player.
And, as he's only 17, we've really smoked Hamburg on this one as we won't have to pay them a penny but FIFA training compensation, whatever that is, will apply.
Mustafi sounds cock-a-hoop about the whole thing as he said of the deal: "It's a very nice feeling. It's one of my dreams tom play for a Premier League club and that dream has come true for me."
He added, sounding more like a 26-year-old than a 17-year-old: "I've had three good years at Hamburg but now this is a new chapter. It was a hard decision to leave home but it's another country, another language and I'm looking forward to it."
Let's just hope he doesn't turn out to be another Scott Spencer...
