Weir ends international career

Reports this morning have stated that David Weir no longer wants to be included for selection for Berti Vogts Scotland squad.

This follows Vogts public humiliation and critisism of the Everton defender after the countries 2-2 draw with the Faroe Islands. Weir made his debut for his country in 1997 v Wales and played in the 1998 France World Cup.

It is a disappointing end for Davie who I thought had been playing as well as ever for Everton but just had one of those days in the match v the Faroes.

In a statement, the Scottish FA said  "I can confirm that we did receive a letter from David saying that he didn't want to be included in Scotland squads in the near future," said an SFA spokesman.

"To the best of my knowledge, we don't have a reason why he doesn't want to play."
