Rooney wins BBC Award

The 17 year old beat of competition from teenage Shooter Charlotte Kerwood, who won a gold medal in this years Commonwealth games, and Gymnast Becky Owen , who won a Silver medal during the Manchester Games.

Rooney was accompanied to the ceremony by Everton manager David Moyes.
