Reverse midas touch

Oh yeah, and Phil Jagielka has picked up the player of the month, something he's that pleased about he's put it on display with his egg-box dog and sponge boat!

So expect David Moyes to come over all Walter Smith and Phil Jagielka to pull a Kroldrup on us for tomorrow's crunch match against Middlesbrough!

The tie tomorrow really is about as much of a gimme as we could've hoped for but, as the game approaches, it's hard not to feel like we're going to mess this one up!

It's probably something to with the fact that we're one match away from a trip to Wembley and the Blues have had had tendancy to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory too many times in the past.

Admittedly, this is the first Everton side in years than can trot out a routine win under such circumstances, but given our post-Arteta form and the unpredictability of Middlesbrough, look at their last two results, it's hard not to feel nervous about this one.

And the manager of the month award has something of a reverse midas touch about it - everything it touches turns to shit - so coupled with the player of the month award...Jesus!

In other Blues news, and this one's for you Tomski, Everton have signed up two promising youngsters in the last week.

First up was Southend's 15-year-old prodigy, Femi Orenuga, who has opted for a move to the Blues in the summer after turning down advances from a host of Premier League clubs including, sit down for this one, Manchester United.

Orenuga said of the move: "When I went to Everton I saw how many youth players had gone through into the first team and I think I will have a better chance with them than some of the other sides who were interested."

The move will be completed in the summer when Orenuga completes his GCSEs.

Everton have also signed up Jose Baxter on a professional contract.

Baxter turned 17 last week and is the youngest player to ever start a game for Everton after he was in the starting line-up for the 2-1 victory at West Brom in August.

He last turned out for the Blues during the 0-3 defeat at home to Portsmouth - does that match even feel like it happened this season? - but was recently on the Bench for the wins against Bolton and Aston Villa.
