The South African was a revelation in his second spell at Everton as his form helped the Goodison outfit to yet another strong second half of the season.
It had been widely reported that Pienaar had his heart set on a permanent switch back to Everton, with the only stumbling block appearing to be Spurs asking price for the midfielder.
However, with Harry Redknapp no longer at the Tottenham helm, the 30-year old may see a future for himself with the London club.
He said: “I want to first talk with the new coach before I see what is best for me. I need to know if I’ll still be used.”
Meanwhile, cult hero Marouane Fellaini has targeted silverware this season, insisting a strong start is required to avoid playing catch up for most of the season.
The Belgian said: “Firstly we have to start the season well, second, my aim is to win something like the FA Cup or the League Cup and to finish in the Europa League.”
