Toon army boss Graeme "drive out the talent" Souness said: "Scott Parker is a player we like very much and we are definitely interested in signing him, he is a player I have admired for a very long time and there is no question he will be an excellent signing for us.
"He is good on the ball and is one of the brightest young midfielders in the Premiership. He is a top player and is precisely the calibre of player Newcastle United are interested in signing."
Newcastle are in a much stronger position that Everton to match the Parker's current £55,000 per week salary, simply because unlike Everton they already have players earning that sort of money.
However, one must question the ambition of a player who joins a team who are clearly on the slide, with a poor management team and no direction, rather than one with the history of Everton (we've won things for a start!), who have just qualified for the biggest club competition in world football.
C'mon Scott, you know it makes sense.
