The Everton defender was up for both Player of the Season (as voted for by
the fans via the official site) and Players' Player of the Season.
And bugger me he went and scooped them both!
Which is fair enough as he has been outstanding all season, be it at left
back or centre back and has netted nine goals, more than any other defender
in the division.
For some reason though, he's never looked quite as potent a goal threat when he's been hauled up front for the last few minutes like a latter day Mick
Lyons!
Lescott picked up the Players' Player award last season and is, apparently,
made up with his double haul this time round.
On being awarded the Player of the Season award, he said: "It is a great
privilege and I am sure the awards will take pride of place at my parents'
house - they will be looking to get hold of them.
He added: "It has been a good season for me, but it has been a good season
for the whole team and it is all about the team here at Everton. They are a
great bunch of lads."
The other awards were won as follows:
Young Player of the Season: Victor Anichebe
Goal of the Season : Leon Osman versus Larissa
Reserve Player of the Season: John Irving
Academy Player of the Season : Jack Rodwell
Ladies Player of the Season : Lindsay Johnson
Disability Player of the Season : Lance Cunliffe
Ladies Disability Player of the Season: Lydia Ashton
Everton Shareholders Young Player of the Season: Victor Anichebe
The Howard Kendall Award : Everton Ladies team
Fan of the Year : Terry Parker
And have I had my head in the sand or did anyone else know that season
ticket holders were eligible to apply for tickets to the awards ceremony?!
Missed a trick there!
