It's been revealed today that James Vaughan will be out for the best part of the rest of the season, rather than the initial three months as suggested by the club.
Yakubu is obviously out for the rest of the season and the club have confirmed that Louis Saha will miss today's match at Man City.
And it's also been revealed that our only other 'fit' striker, Victor Anichebe, is going to face a late fitness test on the back injury that meant he had to brought off against Villa last week.
This has led David Moyes to admitting that he may have to try and get two strikers in on loan in the January transfer window.
And to think that this time last year we had an embarrassment of riches up front that led to the club cashing in on both James McFadden and Andy Johnson!
But, despite the injury problems, Moyes is still hopeful of a top six finish for the blues, especially after the performance, if not the reuslt, against Villa last week.
Moyes said: "I think that after looking at last week and the Premier League as a whole we have got a chance for the top six depending on how I go with injuries."
Well it can't really get any worse can it?!
