The Reds have suffered a woeful season and they currently stand 19 points off Barclays Premier League leaders Manchester United.
Dalglish was tempted back to replaced Roy Hodgson earlier this month and Sunday's derby draw at home to Everton came on the back of opening defeats at United and Blackpool.

But Spanish striker Torres, who has cut an unhappy figure at Anfield this season, believes the good times are just around the corner.
He said: 'Our target is to win games. We will see what happens at the end of the season but it's a long time since our last win.
'We are playing better. The most important thing is getting results but if we keep playing like that they will come soon.'
Torres was left frustrated after their 2-2 draw with Everton at Anfield on Sunday, but he has gained confidence from their progress on the pitch.
He added: 'We are disappointed with the result but we are improving and moving in the right direction. We will see what happens in the next game. We need to start picking up three points in every game.
Big battle: Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish watches on during his first game back at Anfield
'If we had taken the chances we had, particularly in the first half, we would have been winning by two or three at half-time. But that's football.
'In the second half they started well and scored two goals. After that we had a good reaction and got level at 2-2. We had chances at the end but you don't always get the reward you deserve when you play well. We are disappointed by that.'
Meanwhile, Jay Spearing, who was handed a surprise start against the Toffees, says they need to replicate their first-half form - when they led 1-0 - to kickstart their season.
He said: 'The way we played in the first half is the way we need to play all of the time. We've now got a full week of training before our next game at Wolves and if we show the same fight and desire we showed in the derby we will be winning games again.
'We played some really good stuff in the first half and Raul Meireles scored a great goal for us. We could have been three or four up at half-time and I thought Tim Howard kept Everton in the game and made some great saves.

'We switched off in the first five minutes of the second half and we can't afford to do that. We shouldn't be conceding goals like that from a corner with the players we have and we have got to put that right.
'We showed some character to make it 2-2 and then at the end we were on top but just couldn't get the winner. I thought we deserved more.'
Wirral-born Spearing admitted he was delighted to be thrown into the fiery derby clash with captain Steven Gerrard out injured.
He said: 'Being a local lad, the derby is a massive game and hopefully I showed I am capable of being a part of this team.
'I found out I was playing during training when the boss told me I was in his team. It was a bit of a shock to be honest but this is what I've been working hard for all of my life and now hopefully I can get another chance.'
