MATCH PREVIEW

Without a win since the clocks went back, Everton will view the visit of third bottom Wigan as the perfect opportunity to banish their winter blues.

No more excuses or reasoning with it, it is time to start producing

There were murmurs of discontent at Goodison Park following the 4-1 defeat by West Brom a fortnight ago. However, last weekend's draw at Chelsea, which was David Moyes' 400th game in charge, was a timely reminder of the Scot's managerial abilities.

Jermaine Beckford's equaliser at Stamford Bridge was the fourth time in five matches that Everton had scored in the final 10 minutes, suggesting there is no lack of fighting spirit at Goodison. Moyes' chief concern will instead be their lack of firepower, with neither Beckford, Yakubu or Louis Saha convincing as lone strikers this season.

It is a similar story at Wigan, who remain the top flight's lowest scorers despite twice coming from behind to salvage a 2-2 draw with Stoke last time out.

Like Moyes, Latics boss Roberto Martinez is short of attacking options, so the return of leading scorer Hugo Rodallega, who has served a three-match suspension, is a major boost. Victory for Wigan would take them above Everton and out of the relegation zone.
