A Goodison Park source said: "We'll pay the money now or wait until the close season and get Colin for nothing under freedom of contract. We know that Celtic are due to leave for their winter training camp in Florida on Saturday.
"But we don't know if there is any point in Colin making that trip since he doesn't appear to be part of the club's plans any longer."
