Everton manager David Moyes described four-goal striker Louis Saha's display as "unstoppable" after his side's thrilling 5-3 victory over Blackpool. The French striker turned in a majestic performance at Goodison Park and could have ended up with five goals had a first-half shot not been ruled out.

Moyes said: "He was everything you would want from a centre-forward.

"On his day he is unstoppable and he was on his day today, that's for sure. It was just a top, top performance."

Saha wrapped up the win with a rampaging late breakaway goal and Moyes said the goal was a fine example of the striker's quality.

"Anybody who has played against him, with him or managed him will tell you he has that ability," the Scot added.

'Brilliant day' for four-goal Saha

"That is why he has been involved with France teams and at World Cups. He has that quality.

"He has probably not shown it as often as he can do, but today's performance was right up there with the best."

Everton had to win the hard way, as they came back from 3-2 down with 15 minutes remaining despite having led 1-0 and 2-1.

Moyes added: "If we hadn't won, it would have been completely wrong. We were the better team, had the chances.

"You probably always need to score three goals to beat Blackpool and we needed four certainly, and thankfully we got a fifth too."

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway was angered by some of his side's defending but had encouraged by their spirit and attitude.

He added: "The character of the lads was outstanding, that was a tough game.

"I felt quite positive coming out for the second half but, suddenly, 2-1. I thought that would have knocked us like skittles but I think the lads again showed great character.

Defensive lapses concern Holloway

"We got 3-2 up and I tried to do what we did against Liverpool - played five at the back and four across midfield to try to block things up.

"To let three goals in with that formation at that time of the game is absolutely devastating after what has happened in previous games.

"We've got some excellent players, unfortunately we are not getting good results. The performances have been excellent at times apart from the odd bit of defending.

"But we'll keep smiling and keep going."
