David Moyes facing fight to keep Jack Rodwell at Everton

Last updated : 15 March 2011 By Daily Mail

Midfielder Rodwell, 20, signed a five-year deal last year when United were willing to pay around ?20million and Moyes, who is celebrating nine years at Goodison Park, admits the Toffees could be vulnerable to a big-money bid.

With Old Trafford manager Sir Alex Ferguson expected to rekindle his interest this summer, Moyes said: 'I am reluctant to sell my best players. I don't see that as being good for any manager, but I also understand that there may be financial situations which might mean that has to be the case .'

Moyes will hold talks with the Everton board this summer to ascertain whether their strategy is 'workable'.

Moyes has been working on a smaller budget than many of his Barclays Premier League counterparts over recent years and chairman Bill Kenwright has made no secret of his desire to attract fresh investment to take the club forward.

But with no deal imminent, Moyes will continue to operate under the same constraints.

He added: 'At the end of the season, it's important we find a route to go forward. The chairman and the people on the board will listen to my views and they'll need to tell me what the strategy is for the club. 'I will see if what they are talking about is workable.'
