Moyes felt that Chadwick's second goal for the club was the turning point; the young striker came of the bench and set Everton off with a deft finish. Duncan Ferguson later added a second to earn us a point Moyes said: "It was great for Chaddy, although I don't know if it was inspired. It was just great for the young lad to come on and get that goal.
"We needed a Johnny on the spot to get us a goal from somewhere and he was the one today because that really got us going."
Duncan Ferguson also leapt into the manager's good books, the big Scot scored in his last game before a three-match ban. Moyes added: "That's four goals in six games and that's a decent return for most centre-forwards, especially for one who has missed so much football.
"I was disappointed with the start we made and I thought we were lethargic. Our decision making, whether to pass it, clear it or anything was poor in the first half. I could hardly believe some of the things they were getting up to in the first half and the goals were calamities.
"I thought we were lucky to go in only 2-0 down. I said some strong things, but the players were strong too at half time and more importantly they were strong in the second half.
