"If I'd asked for a move from Everton, then I'd have been the Judas, the greedy player looking for more money," Blomqvist told the Express.
"In the end though, I was just booted out and when it is this way around, nobody takes any notice.
"Everybody thought there must be something wrong with me and it created a lot of problems. I felt good at Everton. I played 15 games and wanted to stay really, it would have looked better for me if I'd have said 'No I want a move'. Sometimes I am a bit too open and honest and in this crazy world, that's a bit stupid. It was the same at Middlesbrough. That ended in a strange way too."
Maybe, just maybe, Everton let him go because his wage demands were high, and he was unlikely to ever get back to his best. We'll never know.
