Everton have confirmed midfielder Mikel Arteta suffered a grade two hamstring tear in the 1-1 draw with Birmingham.The Spanish playmaker was substituted within the first 10 minutes of the Premier League match on Wednesday night after pulling up with the injury.
Speaking after Arteta's 10th minute withdrawal, Toffees boss David Moyes said he expected Arteta to be "out for a few weeks".
Moyes is already having to cope without several first team players.
Arteta was captaining the side against Birmingham as a result of Phil Neville being sidelined with a hamstring injury, while Tim Cahill and Marouane Fellaini are also out.
