Andy's ankle

...sprained!

Everton physio Mick Rathbone has shed some light on the situation in saying:
"AJ has had a scan and that seems to confirm our clinical diagnosis that he sprained his ankle"

Which is just a professional way of putting the time honoured Sunday League touchline diagnosis of: "Nah, it's fucked that mate!"

A statement which is usually followed either by:
a) "Dave, you better finish that bifter and get yer top on lad, yer goin on!"
or:
b) "Can't you just run it off, we've only got ten men as it is."

Anyway, there's still no news as to whether or not Johnson will be fit enough to face Man United on Saturday.

And the big question is, if he's not 100 per cent fit, do we rush him back for the game anyway, as we looked completely lifeless up front against West Ham, or save him for the Portsmouth match when he will no doubt be described as 'firing on all cylinders'?

Obviuosly, if James Vaughan and Victor Anichebe are declared fit again this will ease the pressure to play Johnson.

But there's still no news on those two either!

Is anything ever straightforward at Everton?
