Stubbs has said: "It was pretty straightforward to be honest. It is not as if I am 21 and it is going to get complicated, I am happy to be signing and proud I am still able to play at the top of the Premiership at 35. It is a nice moment for me.
"I dreamed of playing for Everton when I was a five-year old lad and now, hopefully, this is the club where I will end my career."
Stubbs is probably still frustrated at the fact that he missed out on European football the last time the Blues qualified.
That came as a result of an alleged clause in his contract concerning a recurrance of the cancer that threatened his career, not to mention his life, a few season's ago.
He ended up at Sunderland for sixth months, in a move that appeared to suit neither Stubbs nor Everton.
Stubbs made 31 appearances for the Blues last season and, given the level of his performances in those games, the fact that he'll still be at Goodison next season is good news indeed.
