He was the second strictest Premiership official last season with 114
yellow and eight red cards in 28 matches and he's well on his way to
emulating that feat again as he has booked 21 and sent off three in six matches this season.
But he's probably most notorious for giving Man United about three
hundred penalties in six matches the other season.
And, it'll probably come as no surprise that his record in Everton
matches over the last three seasons is terrible as far as the Blues are
concerned.
He has refereed eight Everton games since the 2004/05 season and the Blues have won one, drawn one and lost six of them.
In addition, he has issued 12 cautions and sent off three Everton
players.
The most recent of these red cards was shown to Phil Neville down at
Fulham last season when we were beaten by a 57th minute strike from Brian McBride.
I can't remember exactly what happened but I think the sending off came with the final kick of the match.
Unfortunately for Neville, he chose to use Radzinski's leg, and not the
ball, for the final kick and was dismissed by Mr Riley.
Prior to that, the official had sent off James Beattie for that mad head
butt on William Gallas in 2004/05 and Duncan Ferguson in that season's match at Charlton.
Again, I can't remember the details, but I think he was sent off for
webbing someone (no shit!) towards the end of the match that kicked off our alarming decline that season.
But we still finished fourth anyway!
What happened next?*
As far as the two teams are concerned, the last match between the two that he refereed was on the opening day of the 2004/05 season.
A day of glorious sunshine and a 1-4 mauling to a rampant Arsenal side, but more about that in the match preview.
Arsenal will definitely be the happier of the two teams to see that he
is the referee as, over the last three seasons, he has taken charge of
seven Gunners games.
They have won five, lost two and had fourteen players booked and none sent off.
Things are already looking decidedly ropey for Saturday!
