He was the man in the middle as Everton beat Sheffield United 2-0 in October thanks, in no small part, to Mr Gallagher awarding Andy Johnson a penalty and sending off Blades' Claude Davis in the process.
In fact, it was Neil Warnock's comments after that game that started all the ugly accusations that Andy Johnson was nothing but a cheat, a diver and a stealer of candy from unsuspecting babies.
Warnock's comments weren't actually that inflammatory (for once), but it was the fact that Arsene Wenger picked them up and ran with them in the build up to our next game with Arsenal that really started the ball rolling.
And, despite Everton's protestations, it's clearly still affecting some officials as Howard Webb turned down another stonewall penalty in the draw against Villa.
In fact we'll call it a nailed on penalty as I don't really like the 'stonewall' phrase.
But anyway, Mr Gallagher is one of the few referees to award Andy Johnson a spot kick and hopefully he'll do so again tomorrow.
No such intervention was needed in the next match as we breezed past a truly awful looking Newcastle United.
They were that bad even Phil Neville managed to score that mad 'in-off-the-standing-foot' lob from outside the area!
Overall, Mr Gallagher has refereed seven Everton games in the last three seasons of which the Blues have won three, drawn two, lost two and have had eight players booked.
And this could well be his last appearance at Goodison as he hangs up his whistle, or whatever referees metaphorically put away, at the end of the season.
For Fulham, he has taken charge of five games since 2004/05 and the Cottagers have won two, lost three and have had five players booked and one sent off.
That dismissal came in the only Fulham match he has refereed this season as the Cottagers went down 0-1 at home to Reading and had Ian Pearce sent off.
And if I hear Jamie Redknapp say that Reading are 'a breath of fresh air' and 'this season's surprise package' I swear I'll kick the tele in!
