We've as many wins at home against Villa as non-wins as we have won 49
of the 98 Goodison fixtures, drawing 23 and losing 26.
Of the 14 Premiership fixtures we've had with them, we have won six,
drawn four and lost four.
And, out of the last five meetings, we've won four and drawn one against
Villa at Goodison.
And, even in the match we drew, 2004/05's 1-1 draw, we absolutely
leathered them everywhere but were chasing the game after 19 minutes
when Lee Hendrie hit an unstoppable volley into the Street End net.
Marcus Bent drew us level in the 33rd minute but, for all our endeavour,
we couldn't force a winner.
Last season, on the other hand, was a completely different story as we
went three-up before the first half was over.
We ran Villa all over the place and a 90th minute goal from Tim Cahill
secured a 4-1 win, our biggest of the season.
But, despite having basically the same personnel, the Villa side that
turns up tomorrow will be a completely different proposition as Martin
O'Neill have made them one of the county's hardest teams to beat.
Granted, they don't win enough, but it will take a massive effort from
the Blues to get anything more than a point out of this one.
And, if I'm honest, I'd say it's got 1-1 written all over it!
