New Season Blues? I Hope Not.

Well after Rhino's testimonial and the disappointing defeat to
Athletico Bilbao the real stuff starts this Saturday with the
club's home match with Spurs and maybe a possible sell-out!
The club go in to the new season with hope and optimism and new faith
Given to them as David Moyes takes charge for his first full season with the club, the first of hopefully many!

David has looked at what he has at his disposal and he has added a
couple of new faces to freshen things up for the new season ..we are all looking forward to seeing who will be the first 11 players to troop out at Goodison in their new blue shirts ! Will the boss start with Richard Wright in goals? Will Joseph Yobo be fit to make his Premiership debut? Will the two Chinese lads,Li Tie and Li Wei Feng feature in the match or will they have to sit on the bench and wait their turn? And will Rodrigo and Wayne Rooney start upfront to fire the goals to help the blues get their Premiership season off to a flyer.

Matches against Spurs always seem to be a bit special and memories of the 4-1 FA Cup Semi-Final always come to mind as well as some classic 3-2 and 3-3 matches over the past few years. Both matches against the Londoners ended in 1-1 draws last season and as I mentioned last week David Unsworth scored the equaliser in his first match in a three all draw,so maybe this is a pointer for Saturday, what about Rhino to score first and 3-3 or 4-3 if Wayne has his way!

It was a Scot who scored in both matches last season,Duncan Ferguson
Scored the equaliser in the 1-1 match at Goodison after going down to a Darren Anderton goal and David Weir equalised a Les Ferdinand goal at White Hart Lane in January. Matches are always tight even in the glory days of the eighties it seemed to be 2-1 scorelines with big Nev stopping everything Spurs could throw at him,ah the good old days!

The Premiership is a couple of weeks behind the Scottish remier league but as you would imagine it is the same old story with Celtic winning both matches they have played,2-1 over Dunfermline and 4-0 at Aberdeen.

As part of my column I will keep you up to date with what's going on up here as well as what's happening at Goodison Park. The TV coverage kicked off at the weekend with the Edinburgh Derby with Hearts v Hibs going out live to the people of Scotland as part of a deal the BBC have signed.Think of how Hibs played against Everton, they were not bad were they?

Hearts stuffed them 5-1 ! Much to the delight of many a Jambo not only dancing in the streets of Edinburgh but in or graphics van! It was a great match to start the coverage off with, tonight they are showing Celtic's match with Basel then back to Edinburgh for Hibs v Rangers it's wall to wall Football coverage but that's why we pay our licence fee!

Back to matters of a Blue nature.I would just like to wish David Moyes and everyone at Everton Football Club all the very best for the new season,I hope that you get the success the You, the players, the board and the fans deserve.
This is a very special season for the People's Club, lets hope the
people are celebrating at the end of it!
