Lay Off The Boo's-King Kev Turns The Screw On Crewe

I found myself sitting writing this article as the highlights of the
Champions League matches are shown on TV. I am thinking to myself it will be along time before we hear that music playing down the loudspeakers at Goodison Park.

Super Kev !
Times have changed,Everton are no longer seen as a force in England
nevermind Europe ! That is hard to take, but it's the truth ! At half-time in the FA Cup tie I was looking through some of my Everton programmes from past Glory days in Europe, that seems tohave been a lifetime away. It seemed like only yesterday that the Cup Winners Cup and Championship trophies where settling in at Goodison and the team and fans where looking forward to
a journey and a taste of the European Cup...then the Hysel happened and
that put paid to any European trips for English clubs for five years atleast, this had a big effect on teams like Everton. Players leaving, standards slipping,no money,Everton where fast becoming yesterday's men, slipping towards the Premiership exit door only to be saved at the last .

Hopefully Everton will taste such times again but we must regroup and
rebuild and get ourselves to Premiership safety first and foremost before we can dream of any European Glory. We must wish all British Club's all the best on their quests for glory and hope one day we will be in their position.

Back to matters on the homefront, not my cooking ,I am talking about
that result on Saturday Nick ! Nice to see Tomasz coming back from his injury and back among the goals important ones too ! I was proud to see the lads get a result on Saturday even if it was only a draw !! They took a battering at Anfield and the Blue wall of Weir and Stubbs held firm, but this doesn't surprise me,I have seen David and Alan week in,week out up here
in Scotland and I never doubted for a minute they would be a great
partnership for Everton.

I thought also that Scott Gemmill had a good game v Liverpool,as indeed
did the rest of the team.As for Tuesday night's match well after a scare the lads coped well and stuck to theirtask and thanks to goals from man of the match Radzinski and King Kev the Blues came through 2-1 winners and now face Middlesbrough, again the tie is live on the BBC.

I was especially pleased for the Captain after all the stick that he
has taken recently, he has had to come in and play when he has not been fit or when his other strike partners have not been fit and fight a lone cause up front, well done Kevin that will be the start of a good run for you I hope. I always said that if Tomasz and Kevin where fit then they would get us
the goals.

This Sunday we play Leeds at Goodison, lets hope their off the field
problems are taken on to the park and the Blues give them a right good stuffing ! I don't have much time for Leeds !!!

Before I sign off for the week I would like to say a couple of
things, congratulations to Blackburn after their win over Spurs in the Worthington Cup,my Dad was over the moon! Also all the best to Danny Cademateri on his move to Bradford all the very best Danny.

The only two rumours that I have heard are Dave Jones coming in the
summer to replace Walter, this is not fair to the clubs and the managers involved but hey, thats the media for you and Walter will have some cash in his pocket soon so he will want to stick around for the mad spending spree and maybe a cup !!!

The Gazza for a move abroad seems to be doing the rounds, but I will
take the Managers stance and wait till the end of the season for that one.
Big Dunc (wee John will love me for that one !) and Steve Watson are
still a few weeks away from being fit so take it easy guys and come back when your ready.

I'll sign off now and wish the boys all the best for Sunday v Leeds, keep up
the good results and I'll wish my mate,Stevie all the best for his three weeks away down under have a good holiday, and if you see any good talent don't keep it to yourself give Walter a ring .
