Comment: It has Begun

2002 may turn out to be one of the more memorable years in Everton Football Clubs recent history. Wherever you turned earlier this week the clubs prodigal son was literally rammed down your throat.

Television pictures will not let anyone forget the greatest thing in football, forget the paranoia about his age and enjoy the qualities being young have afforded him. Everton have a fearless young bulldog with immense skill and belief who already is attracting huge interest. I have friends who support Arsenal and although they were completely gutted they are as excited as Everton fans at his England prospects. The thought of him running around in an England shirt could be called holy, if it didn’t sound so dramatic.

The rest of the team are showing that they too can play good passing football, under the guidance of Moyes they are turning into a sharp strong team, where team spirit plays as much a part as fitness. Speaking of fitness Everton can look forward to the fitness of Rodrigo and Ferguson they will be playing to try and get a place in the team, not forgetting Chadwick. The times of old would probably have meant one of them or all three rushed back to an expectant Goodison Park. This is no longer the case at new look Everton, who can also be pleased that their manager secured the services of Yobo, a pacy strong defender who has given the Everton defence needed pace.

I have a bet with my Tottenham supporting brother, that starts after Christmas. For every league place lower one team is than the other, one of us will pay the other £5.00 per place after each month. I was a bit worried to start with but now I wish I’d bet £20.00 per place. This is one dawn that cannot be false.
